Cute little place with a great view!
This is a perfect little place for a small group of people to stay. We stayed with our two kids and it was perfect for us! We loved the fire place at night. Great owner and gave us all information we needed!

Weekend relaxation
We were very happy with our stay at this property. Laurie was very accommodating and helpful, and we loved the quietness! It was exactly what we were looking for, in spite of all of the early winter onset!

Excellent Hospitality
Starting from the beginning, Laurie's check in instructions were clear and helpful, she was very friendly and helped us troubleshoot (user) errors with the gas stove. She was the perfect mix of hospitable hostess and respectful property manager. It was the perfect, cozy place to host a girl's getaway! We will certainly consider coming back next time we plan a road trip!

Pleasantly Surprised
This house had a couple unexpected quirks but most surprisingly it was larger than expected from the photographs. The large collection of books and games available was also guide nice.

Girls Trip
Nice comfortable relaxing space for a gathering. Owner was attentive but not intrusive. Beds and bedding were high quality. I would recommend this to others.

Since we are not sure that our first review actually made it into cyberspace, we decided to tackle this again. Laurie and Jeff’s guesthouse was exactly what it was advertised to be. Their hospitality was beyond anything that we ever expected to encounter. We had hoped for some fresh snow as a part of our scenic experience, and it did happen. What we did not expect to encounter was Laurie outside cleaning the snow off our car early one morning. This is above and beyond what anyone would expect of the host(s) of a rental property. The guesthouse is charming and quite comfortable. We were quite impressed with the cleanliness of every aspect of the guesthouse. The quietude is blessed. The scenery is spectacular. We absolutely did not mind driving a ways to find the level of dining that we prefer. In the surrounding towns, the cuisine choices are many. The twenty minutes (average) of driving were a further experience of enjoying the locale. Our only regret was that we could not stay longer. It was the perfect place to celebrate our 52nd wedding anniversary. Thank you, Laurie and Jeff. Maybe we will spend our 53rd anniversary with you…

“Beautiful setting – great value” Reviewed August 13, 2013 for a stay in August 2013 Lots to like – great hosts; beautiful area; quiet and private; spacious living area, full kitchen, bath, and dining area; clean; good Wi-Fi; satellite TV; books, close to hiking, vistas, small town (La Crescent), and city (La Crosse). We’ll be back!

The cabin is situated down a quiet road off a country road on a bluff in the heart of the “driftless” area. The area is drop dead gorgeous. If you’re looking for scenic beauty and seclusion, this is the spot for you. It’s spacious, has a well equipped kitchen, large bathroom with a washer and drier. It’s everything you could want for a short or more extended visited. The area is rich with hiking trails, great roads for bikes and rivers for kayaks. The cabin is a 10 minute drive into Lacrosse, Wisconsin, where you can find any number of good eating spots and plenty of shopping options for groceries. Our hosts, Laurie and Jeff, were ideal sources of information about the area. We owe a couple of great adventures to their solid advice. We had a ball and look forward to a return visit. You’ll love this place.

“Spacious, comfortable guesthouse” Reviewed June 30, 2013 for a stay in June 2013 This is a spacious 2 bedroom guesthouse which would accommodate at least 6 people. My friends and I were thrilled by the space to spread out–good sized living room & fully equipped kitchen & dining room. Clean & comfortable in a beautiful setting! Laurie & Jeff were gracious hosts. We will be back!

“Best price, privacy, and location” Reviewed January 8, 2013 for a stay in January 2013 I needed some privacy, quiet, and isolation to focus on writing a screenplay, and that is exactly what I got. This fully-furnished guest house features necessities and comforts, and was serviced by Jeff and Laurie who were both accommodating and unobtrusive. The location does not have much in the ways of restaurants or shopping, but if you’re looking for those things, LaCrosse is only a few minutes away. And for the amount of space and accommodation, the price can’t be beat. I will definitely be back, and soon.

“Exactly What We Needed!” Reviewed December 1, 2012 for a stay in November 2012 The cabin is absolutely beautiful. We stayed for two nights and would definitely stay again! The overlook from the state park was more than I could have hoped for. We could see we’re the river began splitting and the cars looked tiny from how high up we were. The kitchen of the cabin is well stocked for any meal needs. We made steaks and burgers 🙂 I felt I also had privacy during my stay, which we appreciated, although Laurie and Jeff were always available when we had questions or needed anything. The cabin was nice for a couples weekend, but there is enough space for a family of 4. Although Internet was only available in a portion of the cabin, near the window, it was good to be unplugged from the world for awhile. The thing I loved the most about staying at this cabin was the view from the front door on a clear night. The stars looked close enough to touch and the silence was incredible. I encourage you to take a trip out and enjoy an unforgettable weekend!!!

“Perfect for us” Reviewed October 1, 2012 for a stay in September 2012 This 2 BR place was perfect for us (2 couples hiking Minnesota State Parks). Great bargain! It was decorated very nicely inside. We loved the LR and kitchen area. Great TV reception. We’re able to make our own supper and breakfast there. Beautiful and peaceful spot in the country. Owners were very kind to give us directions to a nearby state park.

“Great Stay!” Reviewed September 25, 2012 for a stay in September 2012 My husband & I were looking for hotels in either Winona or La Crosse, and he came upon this place, and it sounded neat. We are always up for something different, and we wanted something quiet & relaxing, after a year of marriage & remodeling a house for 8 months straight! It was way better than a hotel, since it was fully ours, and had direct tv, a full kitchen, all towels/linens (softer than hotels!) and we just came & went as we pleased. We had a short scenic drive to Winona or La Crosse, to spend the day checking out these cute towns. It was a great getaway from our busy city lives! Thanks Laurie & Jeff!

As a wheelchair user I generally play it safe and stay at large chain hotels that are required by law to provide ADA accessible rooms. Imagine my surprise to find the North Ridge guesthouse completely wheelchair accessible. It is a single-story guesthouse, completely furnished. The bed in the master bedroom is the perfect height to safely transfer. The hosts provided a shower seat to be placed in the tub. The tub/shower is also equipped with a hand-held showerhead. Parking is available right next to the guesthouse. Privacy is respected. My husband and I travel to the Midwest annually, and will definitely stay there again.
